George RR Martin might be keeping Game of Thrones fans waiting years for his next book, but today he released a little something to tide them over in the form of a new companion guide.
The Rise of the Dragon is an upcoming book that Martin co-wrote with Elio M. García Jr. and Linda Antonsson. The book will describe the history of House Targaryen, but unlike Fire & Blood, the book is written in an encyclopedic style, similar to The World of Ice and Fire. For readers who are already familiar with Fire & Blood, The Rise of the
Martin is the creator of the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, with five of his planned seven books released so far. Fans have been waiting for The Winds of Winter since the release of A Dance with Dragons in 2011, but as of yet, there's no planned release date for the next part of the epic tale.
